What to Plant Now?

Along the Gulf Coast in Alabama it’s planting time for the next garden.
According to Bill Finch’s gardening wheel, July is when you should sow the following “on the windowsill”: broccoli, cabbage and brussels sprouts. You should be “setting out” your tomatoes, eggplant and peppers. In the ground, it’s time to sow fall beans, winter squash, pumpkins, melons, cucumbers and corn.
As for my garden, I’ll be planting dandelions from seeds that my friend, Kim in Iowa, just sent me. I’ll be trying my hand once again with broccoli and brussels sprouts. I’ll need a strong fence around to keep out the deer this time. I’ve already set out my tabasco pepper and will plant beans this week, although I don’t know what kind yet. Lastly, I’ve already got squash coming up.
What are you doing for your garden?
