Self-guided Tour of Edible Gardens

Here’s a cool idea…you’ve heard of house tours (especially during the holidays), right? Well, the folks at the Local Food Production Initiative right here in Fairhope, AL, are sponsoring a Vegetable Garden Tour.

Scheduled for the afternoon of  May 6th from 2pm to 5pm, you can visit 11 garden sites around town and see how “gardeners grow some of the food they eat.”  These include private home gardens, community gardens, a school garden and a small farm.

Container gardening and a glass of wine.

You can purchase tickets the day of the event at the Summit Street Community Garden (Summit Street between Morphy Ave and St James Ave) for just $5 per person.  Money raised goes toward the Fairhope Intermediate School’s garden project.
