“My green thumb came only as a result of the mistakes I made while learning to see things from the plant’s point of view.” ~H. Fred Dale/Garden Editor, Toronto Star
I don’t know that I’ll ever see things from a plant’s perspective. I don’t know if it needs a vacation, or wants to dog standing so close. Does it enjoy the pink azaleas towering overhead or would rather have white ones. Is it as upset as I that a bunny found it delicious? Does the plant care that I talk to it some mornings and not others? If I’m sitting nearby with a glass of tea, should I share it? Would a trip to the beach be fun? How about a bike ride?
See, I don’t think I have what it takes to really see a plant’s point of view. Maybe I’ll just water it, talk to it and watch it grow. If my thumb turns green I’ll let you know.
