Green Beans

I was snapping green beans for dinner last night and between snapping and nibbling on the crunchy goodness I starting thinking of my garden and looking forward to harvesting my beans.
Oh, wait! I didn’t plant any.
My garden is so small I wondered how much I could realistically fit in it. I eliminated the option of beans but now I’m considering them. Somehow, I’ll have to figure out how to grow them.
When the boys were little, I tried to grow a green bean tee-pee for them to hide in. The beans didn’t grow well and the boys were afraid of the red wasps that hovered round the tee-pee poles which were broken tree branches. Then, another year I tried to grow them but that was in Florida and I planted them way too late and the heat did them in. I harvested one bean and it was about and inch long. Come to think of it, I did the same thing here last year, except I harvested 2 beans. Somewhere on my computer is a picture of them.
It might be too late to plant now but I’ll head to Cecil’s later this week to find a few plants of a decent size and try again.
I read a Bible verse last night that convicted me of not planting enough. The verse has more to do with giving than growing a garden but I had gardening on my mind. 2 Corinthians 9:6 says: “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.” In terms of gardening, if I sow generously, my family might eat better. If I sow generously I may be able to share my harvest with other families. I will find a way to grow more in my garden and I look forward to harvesting my green beans.
